NO long weekend this week despite the December 8 holiday on Sunday.
“Wala po (none),” the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) said in a message sent to media when asked if the observance of the December 8 holiday would be moved to the nearest Monday or Friday to provide Filipinos a long weekend.
December 8 marks the observance of Immaculate Conception Day which has been declared as a special non-working holiday under Republic Act. No. 10966, “An Act Declaring December 8 of Every Year a Special Non-Working Holiday in the Entire Country to Commemorate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary” was passed in 2017.
