THE Department of Foreign Affairs said no Filipino has so far been affected by the massive protest actions that rocked Indonesia over the week.
The DFA said this was the latest information they got from the country’s embassy in Jakarta and consulate in Manado, which are closely monitoring the protest actions, which have seen protesters breaking in and ransacking the homes of Indonesian lawmakers.
“The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta and the Philippine Consulate General in Manado report that, so far, there are no Filipinos affected by the ongoing protests in Indonesia,” the DFA said in a statement.
“Both posts remain in close coordination with Filipino community leaders and continue to monitor developments on the ground,” it added.
The DFA said that as of July 31 this year, there are about 6,002 Filipinos in Indonesia, 1,779 of whom are living and working in Jakarta.
With the protest actions showing no sign of ebbing soon, the DFA said the embassy and consulate have advised members of the Filipino community to exercise caution, avoid protest areas, and stay informed through their respective Facebook pages and Assistance-to-Nationals.
It added that the embassy can be reached at https://facebook.com/PHLinIndonesia, the Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) number via WhatsApp: +62 811887334 and the consulate in Manado through https://facebook.com/PHinManado.
The embassy and the ATN can also be reached through telephone numbers +62 811-4321-132 and +62 811-431-130.
“Both Posts remain in close coordination with Filipino community leaders and continue to monitor developments on the ground,” the DFA added.
