A WEEK before the June 11 deadline, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday maintained it will not extend the period to file Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) for candidates, political parties, and party-list organizations that participated in the May 12 midterm polls.

In an interview, Comelec chairman George Garcia said: “We don’t have plans to give an extension regardless on who will ask for it. That is the deadline: June 11.”

“We have long announced this deadline. There will be no extensions for SOCE filing,” he added.

The poll chief said they expect majority of the candidates, political parties, and party-list organizations to file their SOCEs in the coming days.

“Most of them are likely still reviewing their documents and records before filing (their SOCE),” said Garcia.

For those who will not be able to meet the deadline, the Comelec said any SOCE filed beyond the deadline shall not be accepted.

“You will have to face the consequences of non-filing of SOCE,” Garcia warned late or non-filers.

Under Republic Act No. 7166, all candidates and treasurers of the political parties shall, within 30 days after Election Day, file their full, true, and itemized SOCEs.

Comelec Resolution No. 10999 sets the last day to file SOCEs on June 11, 2025.
