CLOSE to 1,200 Filipino workers have been repatriated from strife-torn Lebanon since October 2023.
Data from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) showed 1,191 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and 52 dependents have returned to Manila, including the 91st batch composed of 75 individuals who arrived late Sunday.
The latest batch received financial and livelihood assistance from the DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority that gave them educational vouchers which they or their dependents can use in learning new skills.
The National Reintegration Center for OFWs, meanwhile, offered them livelihood programs and assistance in employment opportunities to ensure their reintegration to their local community.
They were also offered free medical check-up, medicines, and psychosocial services by the NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) medical team.
There were about 11,000 OFWs in Lebanon.
