NCRPO dismantles prostitution ring

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it dismantled a prostitution ring and rescued a 14-year-old victim.

The suspects were arrested last Friday night during an entrapment operation inside a hotel in Binondo and are now being charged with violation of Republic Act 9028 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.

The operation was conducted based on a report filed a week earlier by a 14-year-old girl and her mother, who reported the girl was sexually exploited by the suspects in exchange for money, the NCRPO said.

The victim was promptly provided with medical care and placed under the protective care of local social welfare agencies.

“Just a week later, another attempt was made by the same individuals, this time arranging a new ‘booking’ through online messages,” the NCRPO said in a statement.

“The NCRPO responded without delay, launching a tightly executed rescue and entrapment operation that led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of critical digital evidence,” the report added.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the successful operations reflect the thrust of PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III to provide a swift response to trafficking cases and other crimes.

“Whenever community members seek police assistance, you can be assured that NCRPO’s actions will be swift, responsive and reliable pursuant to the strategic focus of the PNP under the leadership of Gen. Nicolas Torre III,” said Aberin.

The NCRPO urged the public to report to authorities any form of abuse or trafficking.
