THE National Bureau of Investigation yesterday said it has summoned the fiancé of vlogger and disk jockey Jellie Aw over allegations that he assaulted her.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago said Jam Ignacio has received the subpoena asking him to appear before the agency on Thursday, February 20.

“Nagpadala na tayo ng subpoena. Na-receive na ng bata. Inim-bitahan namin siya na dumating dito sa Huwebes (We have is-sued a subpoena. The suspect has received it. We invited him to come here on Thursday),” Santiago said.

The NBI chief said if Ignacio fails to appear despite the sub-poena, the NBI will proceed with the conduct of an investiga-tion based on the complaint filed by Aw last week.

“Kung hindi siya darating ng Huwebes (If he fails to come on Thursday), we have no recourse but to proceed with our investi-gation and file the appropriate cases against him,” Santiago added.

Earlier, Santiago said the NBI was pursuing Ignacio and work-ing to locate him.

Aw filed a complaint against her fiancée for alleged physical abuse after a photo of her bloodied and bruised face went viral online.

She said the abuse took place Wednesday last week while they were in their vehicle traveling on the expressway.

She said she sustained a blood clot on her eye as well as a bruised lip and chipped tooth after he repeatedly punched her.
