Motorists can check NCAP violations on MMDA website

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority yesterday launched a website where motorists can monitor and track their violations under the No Contact Apprehension Program (NCAP), which the agency resumed implementing on major roadways in the metropolis late last month.

MMDA chief Romando Artes led the launch of the website mayhulika.mmda.gov.ph. along with Land Transportation Office chief Vigor Mendoza and representatives from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the transport sector.

Artes said motorists can access the website through their cell phones, laptops, tablets, or computers.

“I-type lang ang plate number or conduction number ng iyong sasakyan kasama ng inyong MV file number. I-click ang check at lalabas na kung meron kang huli sa NCAP o wala (Just type the plate number or conduction number of your vehicle along with the MV file number. Then click the word Check and you can check if you have an NCAP violation or none),” Artes said.

The MMDA chief said motorists can also use the website to check the steps they need to follow regarding the payment of fines, where to pay the fines and different ways on how to contest or appeal an NCAP apprehension.

Last week, the agency said it started sending notices of violation to traffic violators amid the enforcement of the NCAP.

Artes said the notices were sent after “a thorough review” of the violations caught on closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) as part of NCAP.

Earlier, the MMDA reassured motorists that it is carefully reviewing all apprehensions made since it resumed enforcing the NCAP last month on EDSA and other major roadways in the metropolis after the Supreme Court partially lifted its injunction on the policy.

The NCAP utilizes CCTVs and digital cameras to identify and apprehend traffic violators through videos and images captured of their violation.

Once a violation is detected, the MMDA issues traffic citation tickets and mails them directly to the vehicle’s registered owners.
