ALREADY hosting the second-highest number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is likely to welcome more from the Philippines.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday expressed confidence in more OFWs being hired in the UAE, which has expressed its intent to attract more foreign workers.
“There can be more job opportunities for skilled Filipino workers as the United Arab Emirates aims to attract more foreign manpower resources to support its growth and development plans for 2025,” said Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac in a statement.
“DMW remains committed to ensuring that the OFWs are positioned to become valuable contributors to the global workforce,” he added.
And with more OFWs eyed for deployment to UAE, he assured them that the Philippines will work towards enhancing the protection of their rights and welfare.
“DMW also remains committed to ensuring their protection and success abroad,” said the official.
Cacdac issued the statement after attending the “Future of Work Forum” at the World Governments Summit 2025 held in Dubai, UAE.
Records show that there are around 600,000 OFWs currently based in the UAE.
