MONGOLIAN Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh will arrive in Manila today, Tuesday, for a two-day visit, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.
The DFA said Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo will have a bilateral meeting with his Mongolian counterpart to “review the state of Philippines-Mongolia relations and to chart ways forward to further enhance the two countries’ diplomatic relations, which have entered its sixth decade.
“Beyond bilateral relations, Secretary Manalo and Foreign Minister Battsetseg will also discuss strategic issues of mutual concern,” the DFA added.
Manila and Ulaanbaatar will also mark the golden anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations on October 11, 1973.
The DAF said Battsetseg is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and Senate President Francis Joseph Escudero.
Battsetseg’s trip marks the first official visit to the Philippines by a Mongolian foreign minister since 1984.
It reciprocates Manalo’s trip to Ulaanbaatar on August 4 to 5, 2024, which marked the first official visit by a Philippine foreign secretary to Mongolia.
During Manalo’s visit, the Philippines donated $50,000 to assist Mongolia in addressing the impact of natural disasters.
