AN Army general has been designated commander of the AFP Civil Relations Service (CRS), the military’s psychological warfare arm.
Brig. Gen. Oliver Maquiling assumed his new post yesterday morning, during rites presided over by AFP vice chief Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida at the AFP general headquarters at Camp Aguinaldo.
Maquiling replaced Maj. Gen. Ramon Zagala, who assumed the post of commander of the Army Reserve Command last February.
Maquiling, before his appointment as CRS commander, was deputy commander of the 7th Infantry Division based in Nueva Ecija. He also previously headed the 701st Brigade.
Navy Capt. Luidegar Casis assumed also yesterday his new post of chief of the AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC).
Casis succeeded Marine Col. Stephen Cabanlet who has been serving as acting chief of the center since January, in addition to his main job as PGMC deputy chief.
Larida, in his address, commended Zagala and Cabanlet “for their dedicated service and contributions to the AFP” as the CRS commander and acting PGMC acting chief.
“He (Larida) also recognized the incoming chiefs, emphasizing their leadership in driving the organization’s continued success,” said AFP public affairs chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad.
“The ceremony underscored the AFP’s commitment to leadership excellence and service, ensuring that both (CRS and PGMC) remain steadfast in fulfilling their mandates in support of the AFP’s missions,” said Trinidad.
