THE military has established a unit that will streamline logistics, personnel and medical needs across the country.

The AFP Joint Sustainment Command (AFPJSC) was activated on Monday during rites presided over by AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

The command is headed by Lt. Gen. Rey Alemania, outgoing AFP deputy chief of staff for logistics.

Brawner, in his address, cited the importance of the AFPJSC in enhancing the military’s operational readiness and support systems.

“Now, I am proud to say that we have unified the sustainment capabilities for joint operations,” said Brawner.

“As such, it is specifically the AFPJSC’s mission to streamline all logistics, personnel, and medical support services, united under one banner that can effectively serve our country,” he added.

The AFP, in a statement, said the new unit “is envisioned to unify and streamline sustainment capabilities of the AFP in support of joint operations.”

“It will centralize logistics, personnel, and medical support services under one cohesive structure,” it added.

The military said the establishment of the command “marks a significant milestone in the AFP’s continuing transformation.”

It said this will ensure “efficient support systems that will enhance operational effectiveness and readiness across the Armed Forces.”
