PASAY CITY – Mayor Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano on June 4 expressed full support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s decision to suspend the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) rehabilitation project.
“We fully commend the President’s proactive approach to finding alternative methods that will ensure a shorter rehabilitation period, minimizing inconvenience for commuters and motorists, and maximizing efficiency,” Mayor Calixto-Rubiano said.
The mayor emphasized the need for stricter traffic management and public consultations to address Metro Manila’s severe traffic congestion.
“The President’s commitment to finding a faster, more efficient solution, targeting completion within six (6) to twelve (12) months using advanced technologies, demonstrates his genuine concern for Filipinos who rely on EDSA for their daily commute, while still ensuring the upgrade of the vital infrastructure,” she stressed.
Pasay City pledged to participate in discussions and provide necessary support for a well-planned, people-centered EDSA rehabilitation that improves Metro Manila’s urban infrastructure while minimizing public inconvenience.
