President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. pledged during his BBM Podcast aired Sunday on Youtube there will be “no sacred cows” — no friends or political allies — in an upcoming independent investigation into corruption in government infrastructure projects.

The President said the investigating body will be granted broad powers to subpoena and investigate anyone, including members of Congress, to ensure a thorough inquiry.

Marcos warned that without sweeping authority, the investigation would be seen as protecting certain interests and would therefore be “pointless.”

“We’re making an omelet. We’re going to have to break some eggs. There’s just no way around it,” he said, acknowledging the upheaval the investigation may cause. –Marlon Magtira
