PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has vowed to complete and distribute this year more than 1,000 housing units intended for survivors of Typhoon Yolanda.

The President, in his 240-page President’s Report to the People, said 1,762 housing units are still up for completion and wants them distributed to the beneficiaries within the year.

“The government, through the NHA, will exert all efforts to complete the Yolanda housing projects within 2025 and accelerate the awarding of the completed units at the soonest possible time,” Marcos said.

He reported that 183,197 housing units or 99.05 percent of the planned 184,959 houses were completed between 2015 and May 2025. This includes the 18,692 houses completed under his term.

Of those completed, 138,068 houses have already been awarded and are now occupied by the beneficiaries.

Super typhoon Yolanda or typhoon Haiyan struck the country on November 8, 2013 which affected more than 16 million people and left some four million displaced and around 6,000 people dead, according to the United Nations’ ReliefWeb.
