PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he has no regrets in running and serving as president amid the challenges and problems that the country is facing.
The President, in the fourth episode of the first part of the BBM podcast that aired on Sunday night, said he looks at the presidency as a chance to serve the people and address the things that he complains about.
“Because I am given the opportunity, actually – the privilege and the chance to do something. All of the things that I have complained about all my life, now I can do something about it. And that is the greatest privilege that anyone can be granted. So no, I don’t regret it,” Marcos said.
However, he said that problems with the anomalous flood control projects and other infrastructure programs of the government that had come to light had been keeping him up late at night.
He said he was shocked and was “very, very angry” at the massive amount of corruption in government, which had worsened over the years.
The President, who had previously vowed to address corruption and ensure that someone would be charged and held accountable within his term, again urged the people to support the campaign and report to the government any forms or cases of corruption.
Marcos said the sumbongsapngulo.ph website has already received over 12,000 reports and complaints on anomalous flood control projects as well as other infrastructure programs such as road pavements and widening around the county.
He said the website has been very effective and people are encouraged to make a report because of it.
“The people now have a line of communication to me, a means to complain, and they are using that. That has been very effective. And that’s why I encourage all of you, if you have complaints, report them,” he added.
The President launched the reporting mechanism in August amid reports of failed, incomplete and ghost flood control projects nationwide.
