PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. yesterday congratulated Donald Trump after he was sworn in as the 47th US president, and said he is looking forward to working with his administration.
The President, in a social media post, congratulated Trump and the American people for the peaceful transfer of power from Joseph Biden Jr.
“I look forward to working closely with you and your Administration. The strong and lasting PH-US alliance will continue to uphold our shared vision of prosperity and security in the region,” he added.
Marcos spoke with Trump in November last year after the US elections and he described their phone conversation as “very friendly” and “productive.” During the call, Marcos said, he expressed the Philippines’ desire to further deepen its relations with the US.
At the House, Rep. Eduardo Villanueva (PL, Cibac) yesterday welcomed Trump’s pronouncement in his inaugural speech that his government will recognize male and female as officials genders, saying this would put an end to “woke policies that promote multi-gender and gender diversity ideologies.”
“President Trump’s policy of recognizing male and female as the only genders will re-establish order in American society and families, which have been confused and destroyed by woke ideologies. It will save the lives of many young people who are being deceived into ‘transitioning’ to opposite genders through the lies being peddled in schools and in the media,” Villanueva, founder of the religious group Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide, said in a statement.
Villanueva said he has high hopes that with Trump’s return to power, the US President will be able to “restore God’s principles and values not only in America’s society but also in the global stage.”
“It is indeed refreshing and inspiring to see a leader, who acknowledges God’s sovereignty, occupying the most powerful position in America, if not in the world. We have nothing for President Trump but wholehearted prayers that God would grant him wisdom, strength, and guidance as he embarks on this significant role. He carries the responsibility not only to the American people to make America great again but also to the global community to uphold values rooted in God’s Word,” he said.
Villanueva also expressed hope that the Trump administration would further strengthen the long-standing friendship between the US and the Philippines, saying the US has been a “steadfast partner” of the Philippines in areas such as trade, security, and development.
“We look forward to revitalized cooperation under President Trump’s leadership, not only in areas of tangible benefits but also advancing shared values like democracy, human rights, and moral integrity,” he said.
