Marcos appoints new PCO usec

PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has appointed former Transportation Assistant Secretary Jorjette Barrenechea Aquino as undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Acting Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez said yesterday.

Aquino, whose appointment papers were signed on January 23, will replace PCO undersecretary Cherbett Karen Maralit.

Before her PCO appointment, Aquino served as assistant secretary for rails in the Department of Transportation.

Chavez said Aquino had also served as a member of his technical staff when he was assistant secretary for rails in the Department of Transportation and later as transportation undersecretary for rails.

Aquino earned her bachelor’s degree in actuarial science and statistics from De La Salle University and her master’s in public administration from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

Chavez said at PCO, Aquino will focus on the rationalization plan and digitalization of state media agencies such as PTV-4, Radyo Pilipinas and IBC-13.

He added that Aquino will also oversee the rationalization plan and digitalization of PCO-attached agencies such as the News and Information Bureau, which oversees the Philippine News Agency, Philippine Information Agency, and Bureau of Communications Services.
