THE Mandaluyong government recently launched the Project E-CODE (Empowering Communities for Dengue-Ready Philippines) by the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), which aims to educate residents on how to fight and avoid dengue.
Mayor Menchie Abalos said that ULAP chose the city for its anti-dengue programs
Among those who expressed support for the project are Dr. Lester Tan, Regional Director of the Department of Health – National Capital Region (DOH-NCR), and Dr. Fumiko Aoki, First Secretary, Dr. Alexis Milan of the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) and Health Attaché of Japan.
Abalos said the threat of dengue is very serious not only to the city but to the entire country.
“Handang magbahagi ng mga best practices at programa laban sa dengue ang Mandaluyong sa ibang mga local government units,” Abalos said.
According to the DOH–NCR data, there are 30,940 dengue cases in the country from January to September 13, which is 96% higher than last year.
