MAJORITY of Filipinos said Vice President Sara Duterte should address the impeachment charges and allegations of corruption against her, stop criticizing the government and its initiatives, and do her job instead of politicizing, the May 2 to 6 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.
The Stratbase Group-commissioned survey, which involved 1,800 adult respondents with a margin of error of ±2.3 percent, showed that 88 percent of Pinoys said the Vice President should address the impeachment charges filed against her and answer all allegations about corruption to clear her name.
The survey also said that 93 percent said the Vice President should work to prioritize the country’s needs; 86 percent said she should focus on implementing her platforms and policies; 81 percent said she should continue her duties as Vice President and stop politicizing; while 74 percent said she should stop criticizing the government and its initiatives.
The results also showed that 20 percent said that Duterte should not step back from criticizing the government and its initiatives, while 15 percent said the Vice President should no longer continue her duties.
Nine percent said the Vice President should not focus on implementing her platforms and policies; seven percent said she should not address the impeachment and corruption allegations; and four percent said she should not collaborate and work to prioritize the nation’s needs.
Stratbase President Dindo Manhit said the survey results showed that for many Filipinos, the issues confronting Duterte are not just a legal matter but a test of leadership and respect for the rule of law.
“Accountability is not an option. It is foundational to public trust. Prominent leaders like the Vice President should look past politics and personal interests and respond to the people’s call for transparency. It is about time for her to answer all the allegations filed against her,” Manhit said.
