A law graduate yesterday filed a disbarment complaint before the Office of the Bar Confidant of the Supreme Court against former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez.
Jason Binay Suarez alleged that Rodriguez, who ran but lost in the May 12, 2025 senatorial race, disclosed confidential matters in his book titled “Kingmaker: The Hard Copy” in violation of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability which was published after he resigned as Executive Secretary of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Rodriguez has since allied himself with the Dutertes and ran for the Senate in the May 12 polls as a guest candidate under the Duterte-backed PDP-Laban.
Suarez accused Rodriguez of violating the lawyer’s oath and the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability.
“The role of a lawyer is to maintain the trust if his client is a pillar of justice, and if this is violated, especially at the highest level of political power, it affects not only the lawyer-client relationship but also the credibility of our democratic institution,” Suarez said in a statement that he posted on his social media account.
“In my view, the disclosures, regardless of their truthfulness, were not mere storytelling but a calculated act tied to personal interest and political ambition,” he added.
