Korean wanted for fraud nabbed in Misamis

OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested a Korean in Misamis Oriental on charges of fraud, police reported yesterday.

The CIDG said the 53-year-old suspect, who was identified only as Jang, was nabbed last Friday in Barangay Igpit in Opol town in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration and Korean National Police Agency.

CIDG officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Rolindo Suguilon said Jang was arrested by virtue of a Red Notice from the International Police (Interpol) that was initially issued on March 1, 2022 and updated on August 9, 2024.

The CIDG said Jang is a “fugitive wanted for violations of Articles 3 and 11 (fraud) of the Punishment of Tax Offenses Act of South Korea.”

Jang underwent documentation procedures at the CIDG office in Cagayan de Oro City and was later brought to the BI office in Manila.

Suguilon commended the personnel in the successful operation, specifically “for their swift and responsive police service that led to the capture of the Korean fugitive.”

“It underscores your relentless effort in arresting all wanted persons in the country,” said Suguilon.

“Rest assured that the CIDG is steadfast in enforcing all the laws and unrelenting in its fight against most wanted persons and fugitives, local or foreign nationals nationwide,” said Suguilon.
