FORMER senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan yesterday said he is hoping for the best outcome in the senatorial race, saying he believes that it is God’s will if he makes it back to the Senate.
In an interview after he cast his vote in Inchican Elementary School in Silang, Cavite, Pangilinan said he did what he can to woo voters during the 90-day campaign period.
“Sa huling banda, it’s now in the hands of the Lord. So, we’ll see. Ako naman ay naniniwalang ang taumbayan naman eventually, sila ang pagpapasiya. Kung ano man ang resulta, kailangan we have to respect (It’s now in the hands of the Lord. So, we’ll see. It is up to the people to eventually decide. We will respect whatever the results will be),” he said.
Asked to compare the results of pre-election surveys compared to the reception he has been getting during the campaign, Pangilinan said survey results and actual election day decisions are different, adding that there have been instances in the past when candidates who did not make it to the “Magic 12” in pre-election surveys end up in the winning circle on election day.
“Tignan natin kung ano ang magiging pasya ng ating mga kababayan (Let us just wait for the decision of our countrymen),” he said.
Pangilinan has been trailing in pre-election surveys held by polling firms Pulse Asia, Social Weather Station and OCTA Research.
Pangilinan was joined by his wife, “Megastar” actress Sharon Cuneta, when he cast his vote. Cuneta is also a registered voter in the same precinct.
Cuneta thanked the people for supporting her husband during the campaign period.
“Win or lose, we leave it all to God and it will not lessen our love and commitment to the people,” she said.
