FORMER senator Francis “Kiko’ Pangilinan got another boost to his senatorial bid after Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia endorsed his candidacy, becoming the only non-administration candidate to get her support.
Garcia said her decision to support Pangilinan was due to their long-standing friendship which “withstood the test of time and changes in the political landscape.”
“He really went out of his way to greet me and to say hello. How are you, give my regards to Pablo John. I was so touched by that gesture,” Garcia said during a gathering of barangay captains and mayors from the province’s fifth and sixth districts.
“Diyan mo talaga makikita kung anong klaseng tao siya (That really defines him as a person),” she added.
Garcia’s endorsement came ahead of Pangilinan’s scheduled “Kita-Kiks sa Cebu Rally” yesterday at the Plaza Independencia in Cebu City.
Megastar Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan, the former senator’s wife; Piolo Pascual, Gary Valenciano, Kuh Ledesma, Pinky Amador, and Darren Espanto were present during the event.
Meanwhile, television host Vice Ganda was added to the list of celebrities who endorsed the senatorial bid of Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino.
Vice Ganda, or Jose Marie Viceral, was also one of the supporters of former vice president Leni Robredo when the latter ran for president in the 2022 elections.
The actress said she is supporting Aquino’s candidacy due to his unblemished record in public service.
In a video shared on her official Facebook page, Vice Ganda is seen singing “Bam Bam Bida Bam Bam Bida Bam” while appearing to film her lips with a mobile phone.
Vice Ganda then passed the phone to various individuals, including OPM icon Ogie Alcasid and singer Darren Espanto, who gamely sang along.
After receiving the phone back, the television host said: “Ibalik sa Senado ang matino at matalino. Bam Aquino. No. 5 sa balota.”
Aquino thanked Vice Ganda for her support and for using her platform for the Filipino people.
“Maraming salamat sa unkabogable na suporta, Vice Ganda. Salamat sa patuloy na paggamit ng iyong boses at plataporma para tumindig sa tabi ng mga kababayan natin (Thank you very much for your unwavering support, Vice Ganda. Thank you for continuing to reach out to the people using your social media account to show that you are one with our people),” Aquino said on Facebook.
Vice Ganda joins a growing roster of celebrities endorsing Aquino’s senatorial bid, including Pascual, Dingdong Dantes, and Iza Calzado. Pascual and Calzado even joined Aquino’s Metro Manila motorcade over the weekend.
