AS their labor dispute persists, the management of Kawasaki Motors Philippines Corporation (KMPC) yesterday denounced the continued harassment and bashing of their officials, allegedly by members of the Kawasaki United Labor Union (KULU).
In its counter-manifestation filed before the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), KMPC claimed they are being mocked and harassed via social media, supposedly by KULU members.
“It is deeply rooted in our justice system that the exercise of the right to organize is not limitless, as safeguards and limitations have been imposed on its exercise to ensure its orderly conduct to maintain industrial peace,” said the KMPC.
“It (KMPC) has been the subject of mockery and ridicule of Respondent, who are supposed to be loyal to the cause of the company as its employees,” it added.
The management said such actions online aren’t acceptable, saying they have been patient with the labor union throughout the process.
“KMPC is not taking lightly the maneuvers of the Petitioner this time around as it has been patient for the longest time, doing its best to make Petitioner understand where it is coming from but to no avail.”
This, it said, is why they are open to taking additional legal actions against those behind the online harassment.
“KMPC would enact all the necessary steps to bring under the arms of justice the people liable for the harassment and tarnishing of KMPC’s reputation.”
KULU began its strike on May 21 in Kawasaki’s main plant in Muntinlupa City after the collective bargaining negotiations between KMPC and KULU reached a deadlock over wage increases and other economic benefits.
