JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla yesterday assured the public that two junior officers who accused their superior, an Air Force major general, of rape through sexual assault will get justice.
“If it was filed here, for sure we will look at it in a way that in the end we will get justice for the people who were accused,” Remulla told reporters in a chance interview.
“Of course, those who were victimized should also get the justice they deserve,” he added.
Complaints of rape and attempted rape through sexual assault were filed against the two-star general last May 16 before the Lipa City prosecutors’ office in Batangas. The general was not identified.
The complainants were two Air Force captains working as assistants at the office of the accused.
The Armed Forces has confirmed that the general has been relieved and restricted to his quarters.
The alleged incident took place on January 29 this year after the general reportedly took advantage of the two junior officers in his office at the Fernando Air Base in Lipa City after they had drinks earlier.
An investigation by the Office of Ethical Standards of the Armed Forces of the Philippines found prima facie evidence for the general to face a pre-trial investigation.
