THE Japanese Embassy in Manila yesterday said Tokyo wants to hire more Filipino nurses and caregivers this year.
The embassy said it is working with the Department of Migrant Workers and Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS) in opening applications for an initial 50 registered nurses and 300 certified care workers.
Those seeking to apply as nurses must be graduates of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with an active Professional Regulation Commission license; have a minimum of three years of hospital, clinic or health center work experience; and must be committed to work and study as a candidate to obtain a National License in Japan, the embassy said.
Caregivers, it added, must be graduates of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (with or without PRC license), graduates of a four-year course but should submit TESDA National Certificate II in caregiving, and must also be committed to work and study to obtain a National License in Japan.
All accepted candidates will undergo Japanese Language Training for six months in the Philippines and another six months in Japan, before their three to four years of work term at Japanese hospitals and caregiving facilities, the embassy added. The language training is free of charge.
The deadline for submission of application to the DMW is on April 4 this year.
More than 332,000 Filipinos and Filipino-Japanese are working and living in Japan as of 2024.
