MANILA mayoral candidate Francisco Domagoso, popularly known as Isko Moreno, bested his two rival candidates in the local race in the survey conducted by OCTA Research from April 20 to 23.
Moreno is running against reelectionist Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila Rep. Sam Versoza.
Moreno garnered 63 percent in voter preference across the city of Manila, while Lacuna got 18 percent and Versoza, 16 percent.
The survey involved 1,200 respondents. They are aged 18 years old and above and were all registered voters of Manila. It has an overall margin of error three percent.
Moreno led in all six districts of Manila.
Moreno has vowed to make the city clean and stable if he gets a chance to return to city hall.
In his talk with members of the Filipino-Chinese business community last February, he recalled that during his first stint as Manila mayor from 2019 to 2022, he kept the tax rates in the city while he granted amnesty to delinquent taxpayers.
Lacuna has alleged that Moreno left the city indebted to the tune of over P17 billion during his term and that it would take the city government up to 20 years to repay the loans.
She said that to address the financial setback, her administration earmarked P2.3 billion this year to pay part of the debt.
