OPERATIVES of the Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) arrested a Jordanian and a Chinese in separate operations in Manila and Makati.

In a statement yesterday, Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said Hussam Aldeen Mohd Kamiel Ghanem, 56, and Peng Quanbin, 28, who are both wanted for crimes in their homelands, will be deported.

The two were arrested on mission orders that Viado issued at the request of the Interpol and the Chinese government.

Viado said Ghanem was arrested on March 11 at the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila, after he attempted to extend his tourist visa.

“BI tourist visa section personnel found Ghanem’s name in the BI’s derogatory database,” Viado said, adding Peng was collared the next day at his residence in Barangay Carmona, Makati City.

Both were brought to the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, where they will remain pending deportation proceedings, the BI chief added.

BI-FSU acting chief Rendel Ryan Sy said Interpol Manila sought Ghanem’s arrest under a request from Jordanian authorities who wanted him arrested and deported for issuing a worthless check.

Chinese authorities sought Peng’s arrest for his alleged involvement in theft and cyber-crimes.

“A warrant for Peng’s arrest was issued by the public security bureau in Baise, China, which accused him of conspiring with other suspects in hacking the computers of victims who incurred combined losses of more than 3 million renminbi, or more than $414,000,” Sy added.
