THE House of Representatives yesterday elected seven out of its 12-man contingent to the powerful Committee on Appointments (CA), which has the power to accept or reject presidential appointments.
Named as head of the House CA contingent was Pangasinan Rep. Ramon Guico Jr. who will be supported by members Reps. Jose Aquino II of Butuan, Antonio Albano of Isabela, Lani Mercado-Revilla of Cavite, Jurdin Jesus Romualdo of Camiguin, Benjamin Agarao Jr. of Laguna, and Alfredo Garbin Jr. (PL, Ako Bicol).
The House also elected former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as chairperson of the Committee on Poverty Alleviation. Arroyo, chair emeritus of the ruling Lakas-CMD, had also served as Speaker for the latter part of 17th Congress.
