THE House on Monday night adopted a resolution expressing condolences to the family of Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman who died last Thursday from cardiac arrest at the age of 82.

“On behalf of the House of Representatives, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues in the Liberal Party. May they find comfort in knowing that Cong. Edcel’s legacy of service and integrity will endure,” Speaker Martin Romualdez said in House Resolution No. 2214.

Romualdez, Lagman’s former party mate in the Lakas-CMD, said his loss has left “great void” in public service.

HR No. 2214 was approved by the plenary in consolidation with HR Nos. 2211 and 2212.

Lagman, author of the Reproductive Health Law and a known advocate of divorce, served as representative of the first district of Albay during the 8th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, and the 19th Congresses.

Last September, it was reported that the late congressman, a known ally of former Vice President Leni Robredo, was undergoing treatment after suffering from community-acquired pneumonia.
