SENATE deputy minority leader Risa Hontiveros on Monday night called on her colleagues in the Senate to deny Filipino citizenship to Chinese national Li Duan Wang, alias Mark Ong, due to his alleged links to illegal POGOs.

During the interpellation on House Bill No. 8839 under Committee report no. 216 which will grant Filipino citizenship to Li, Hontiveros showed photos of the applicant with Duanren Wu, the alleged brains behind the POGO hub raided in Porac, Pampanga.

Hontiveros said Duanren is the godfather of Cassandra Li Ong, an associate of Lucky South 99 Outsourcing Inc. which operated the POGO facility in Porac, Pampanga. She added that Duanren is a fugitive from China.

Hontiveros said Li’s picture with Duanren was taken during the launch of the exclusive 9 Dynasty casino in Clark, Pampanga.

She said Li represented himself as a Filipino citizen in the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws of Avia International Club that is associated with Yatai Spa, which is connected to She Zhijiang, the self-confessed Chinese spy.

She said Avia and Yatai share one building space in Pasay City.

In a document listing junket operators, she said 9 Dynasty also registers Avia Club Newport Pasay City as its address.

“In his application for naturalization, Wang (Li) did not even disclose that he is the operator of 9 Dynasty junket group that shared officers with Rivendell, an illegal POGO scam hub in Pasay (City),” she said. “Bakit niya itinago? (Why did he hide that information?).”

She also questioned Li’s possession of several taxpayer’s identification numbers (TINs) in his Bureau of Internal Revenue identification card in JuanCare, a foundation reportedly established by Li.

Upon verification, she said that the TIN used for JuanCare is already cancelled.

She added that Li, who also goes by the name Mark Ong, also has another TIN used for Avia.

Hontiveros said she also has information that Li has affiliation with the Philippine Jinjiang Yuxi Association, which is said to be part of the United Front work of the Communist Party of China.

“I question where Mr. Wang’s loyalties would be if he is granted Filipino citizenship by the Philippine Senate…I am shocked that this person was able to advance so far in the naturalization process despite all the red flags in his background,” she said.

“This is not only a case of falsification of a birth record in a local civil registry in the province. This one is right in the halls of the Senate and the House of Representatives. I hope that the Senate will not be fooled,” she said in a mix of Filipino and English.

Hontiveros urged her fellow senators to scrutinize Wang’s background because of all the red flags of the applicant.
