THE government will be tapping the services of the digital solutions provider ePDLT in the implementation of the unified 911 emergency response system.
In an interview at Camp Crame, Interior Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla said ePLDT won the bidding held last July 6 for the implementation of the project.
“It was won by ePDLT,” Remulla said, adding the department will be issuing the Notice to Proceed to ePLDT in 10 days.
Remulla said the contract price is P1.41 billion.
“It was bidded out last July 6. It (system) will be installed and cover the entire Philippines,” said Remulla.
Remulla said the implementation of the unified 911 emergency response system will begin next month. However, he said it may take a year to fully integrate the system.
“It will be installed and cover the entire Philippines and (PNP chief) Gen. (Nicolas) Torre (and the DILG), we will be working together in the (pilot) response,” said Remulla.
“We will address a lot in terms of mobility,” said Remulla.
The country has an existing 911 system but it is not unified. Remulla said the current 911 system is being implemented under an “old technology.”
“At present, 34 LGUs (local government units) have their own 911 system and Camp Crame has its own. So we have no unified system (at present). What will happen is we’ll have a unified system for the entire Philippines,” said Remulla.
“I think the PNP will have a better response and better quality of response…We are getting the latest (technology) generation in the world,” said Remulla.
Following his assumption as PNP chief last month, Torre implemented a program to respond to calls for an emergency under the 911 system.
