MALACANANG yesterday assured the public, particularly commuters using the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Busway, that the carousel would continue to operate even while the highway undergoes rehabilitation later this month.
“Iyon pong bus carousel po natin, tuluy-tuloy pa rin po iyan. Ang mangyayari lang po ay aayusin kung papaano ito hindi maka-cause ng traffic, pero tuluy-tuloy po iyan, hindi po iyan ihihinto para sa ating mga commuters (The bus carousel will continue to operate. What will do is ensure the rehabilitation will not cause heavy traffic, but the busway will not stop operations for our commuters),” Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in an interview with the television program Unang Hirit.
The EDSA rehabilitation project, which is due later this month, would include road repairs and drainage improvements to alleviate traffic congestion and flooding on Metro Manila’s major thoroughfare.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aims to complete the repairs before the Philippines hosts the ASEAN Summit in 2026.
