AS part of the celebration of the 127th Philippine Independence Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is preparing to hold a nationwide job fair on June 12.

In a radio interview, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma yesterday disclosed that they are now preparing for the conduct of a simultaneous job fair in different regions of the country.

“Our Independence Day gift to our workers is a massive nationwide job fair,” said Laguesma.

“We are already finalizing the arrangements, including the venues and sites of the job fairs,” he added.

The labor chief said the nationwide job fair would serve as a gift to workers as a wage increase, particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR), won’t make it in time for June 12.

“For the wage increase in NCR, we can expect that sometime in July because that is the anniversary date of the last wage order,” said Laguesma.

Just last May 1, the DOLE also conducted a nationwide job fair in celebration of the 123rd Labor Day.

During the May 1 job fairs, a total of 5,780 were hired on the spot (HOTS) in the 71 job fair sites nationwide.
