WHILE 14 out of 16 Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) issued wage orders last year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) yesterday reminded them they are expected to continue doing timely reviews this year.

In a televised public briefing, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said all regional wage boards are expected to do timely reviews of the minimum wage rates in their respective areas for 2025.

“We are reminding them of the President’s directive in the last Labor Day that they should do timely reviews of the wage rates,” said Laguesma.

“We want to see if they will do that this 2025,” he added.

The labor chief said RTWPBs are expected to start their reviews 60 days before the anniversary date of the last wage order.

“This will make sure that by the time of the anniversary, the wage review process has been completed, and that there will be no gaps between wage adjustments,” said Laguesma.

Last year, 14 regional wage boards issued their respective wage orders for minimum wage earners.

These are in the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and Caraga.

The RTWPBs of Davao Region and Bicol Region have yet to issue their respective wage orders.
