EVEN as it is declared as a “Special Working Day,” the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) yesterday said there will be no additional pay to those who will report for work today, which it said is an “ordinary working day” for all private sector workers.

In its Labor Advisory No. 02-2025, the DOLE said there are no additional payments or wages for those going to work during the day dedicated to the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

“It shall be considered as an ordinary working day for the purpose of payment of wages and wage-related benefits,” said the DOLE.

By this, the labor department said, if the employee does not work, the “no work, no pay” principle shall apply.

“(This is) unless there is a favorable company policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment on a special working day,” said DOLE.

For work done on a special working day, the employer shall pay 100 percent of the employee’s wage for that day for the first eight hours.

For overtime work, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 25 percent of the hourly rate on said day. Malacañang declared the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary as a “Special Working Day” under Proclamation No. 727.
