THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is looking to conduct more job fairs across the country, including the annual Labor Day Job Fair, to continue the improving employment numbers in the Philippines.

In a statement, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said they are set to hold more job fairs in different regions to bring employment opportunities closer to job seekers.

“In our unwavering commitment to promote employment and livelihood opportunities for all, we aim to boost the conduct of job fairs across the country,” said Laguesma.

Foremost among the job fairs, he said, is the conduct of the annual Labor Day Job Fair on May 1.

“This vital initiative in partnership with the private sector will bring thousands of local and overseas job opportunities directly to our Filipino job seekers,” said Laguesma.

Putting a premium on holding job fairs, he said such efforts will help continue improving the country’s employment rate.

Proof of this, he said, is the February 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS), wherein the employment rate rose to 96.2 percent, from 95.7 in January 2025.

Similarly, the latest LFS showed the unemployment rate declining to 3.8 percent in February 2025 from 4.3 percent in January 2025.

“This manifests the government’s firm commitment as it maintains a positive outlook and encouraging trajectory for our labor market,” said Laguesma.
