WITH the ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) set to take full effect in a matter of weeks, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is looking to hold another special job fair for would-be displaced workers next month.
In a televised public briefing, Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) Director Patrick Patriwirawan said another special job fair is scheduled on December 6.
“We will have one more job fair on December 6 for our POGO workers in Calabarzon,” said Patriwirawan.
He said the job fair is part of their continuing efforts to find new employment opportunities for workers in the POGO industry.
“This is part of our employment facilitation services,” said Patriwirawan.
Earlier this month, the DOLE held a job fair for POGO workers who shall be displaced by December 31, 2024.
The job fair held at the SM Mall of Asia – Music Hall in Pasay City resulted in 38 POGO workers being hired on the spot, out of the 298 jobseekers from the industry.
Aside from employment facilitation, the labor official said they are also helping POGO workers process their unemployment insurance benefits, which has 435 applicants so far.
Patriwirawan said POGO workers are also being referred to the nearest Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for job matching and career development support services.
