THE Department of Justice has launched its 7th Action Center to provide free legal services to residents of Central Mindanao.

The center, which was formally opened last March 25, is located in Koronadal City.

The DOJ Action Center, as the frontline arm of the department since its creation in 1985, provides free legal assistance to the public through offices in Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and now in Central Mindanao.

Its services include legal counselling, referrals and endorsement to government offices, and mediation services.

The action centers are manned by members of the National Prosecution Service and the Public Attorney’s Office.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the launch of the newest action center is in line with the DOJ’s mandate to “uphold the rule of law and make justice accessible to every Filipino.”

“As vanguards of justice, it is our mission to ensure that every Filipino, regardless of position or status in life, has a fair and equal access to justice,” Remulla said.

Earlier, the DOJ said its action centers assisted 12,879 clients as of November 30, 2024, or roughly five times more than 2,815 clients served in 2023.

Of the 12,879 clients served in 2024, the DOJ said 7,632 were walk-in clients, while the rest needed notarization services and endorsements and referrals to other government agencies.
