THE Department of Justice will conduct today, Tuesday, the preliminary investigation on the falsification by a notary public case filed against dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.
Aside from falsification, the case also includes perjury and obstruction of justice. The hearing is set at 1 p.m.
Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Wendell Bendoval heads the prosecution panel, with prosecutors Ryan Leocario and Michael Elvin Tan as members.
The case against Guo, lawyer Elmer Galicia who notarized her counter-affidavit, and three others was filed by the National Bureau of Investigation last month.
This came after the NBI said their examination showed that Guo did not sign her counter-affidavit, contrary to her testimony in the Senate last September 17.
The counter-affidavit was filed in response to the trafficking in person complaint filed against Guo stemming from her alleged involvement in the operation of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban that was raided by authorities due to alleged illegal activities.
The counter-affidavit, notarized last August 14 in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, was filed days after the complaint was submitted for resolution last August 6.
Galicia has admitted that Guo did not personally swear before him.
The NBI has also filed a complaint before the Supreme Court to disbar Galicia.
