ON the heels of the launch of the “No Balance Billing,” the Department of Health (DOH) yesterday warned the public against the proliferation of scam messages concerning the free hospitalization program.
In a public advisory, the DOH said the public should disregard messages related to the “No Balance Billing” program, which involves them clicking a suspicious link.
“The transaction in the picture is a type of scam. It is not from the DOH or any government agency,” said the DOH.
“The public is reminded to be wary of scams like the one in the picture,” it added.
In the attached image, the scam message urges the recipient to click the link to check their supposed refund from their DOH’s no-billing statement.
“You have received 8061.17 from DOH zero-billing plan hospital overpayment refund (2018-2025). Please Check your GCash balance or update via https://bit.ly/DOH_PH,” said the scam message.
“There is no link sent by the DOH or any of its hospitals to the public, so do not click on suspicious links in scam messages,” the DOH stressed.
Last month, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the administration is pushing through with the No Balance Billing program in all DOH hospitals.
Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said the benefit may be availed of by any Filipino as long as they are admitted to the basic accommodation or ward section of DOH hospitals.
