CLOSE to 6,000 Influenza-like Illnesses (ILIs) have been recorded in the country in the first 18 days of 2025, data released yesterday by the Department of Health (DOH) showed.
At least 5,789 ILI cases were reported nationwide from January 1 to 18.
“This is 54 percent lower than the 12,620 ILI cases during the same period in 2024,” said the DOH.
In addition, the health department said it recorded one death during the period.
“This is 96 percent lower than the 26 ILI deaths during the same period in 2024,” the DOH added.
ILIs are a group of illnesses with common symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, colds, body aches, and headaches.
Among the top causative agents identified in the ILI cases reported are Influenza A, Influenza B, Rhinovirus, Enterovirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus, and Adenovirus.
