DEPARTMENT of Migrant Workers (DMW) Undersecretary Patricia Yvonne Cunanan said the Philippines will deploy Filipino caregivers to Slovenia once a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries is signed this week.
“Slovenia and the Philippines are deep in discussion for the launching of this government-to-government (G2G) hiring program,” said Caunan in a media briefing last Friday.
“First in the program will be the hiring of caregivers to Slovenia,” she added.
Caunan noted that among the initial batch of caregivers to be sent to Slovenia are domestic workers recently repatriated from crisis-torn Lebanon.
“These workers have become part of our upskilling efforts,” said Caunan.
“Once this bilateral labor agreement with Slovenia is signed, detailed talks will follow immediately,” said Caunan.
The DMW previously identified Slovenia as one of the new labor markets for overseas Filipino workers.
