THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is looking to expand the operations of the OFW Hospital outside Pampanga, albeit on a smaller scale, nearly three years after it opened,
In a televised public briefing, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac bared their plans to establish OFW clinics in malls across the country.
“We want to expand the OFW Hospital so that it won’t be limited to San Fernando, Pampanga. We intend to develop branches or units,” said Cacdac.
“You know how clinics are set up in malls? We want it to be like that, hospitals or clinics set up in malls nationwide for the OFW Hospital,” he added.
Aside from expansion outside Pampanga, the DMW chief said they also want to increase the capacity of the OFW Hospital.
“We also wish to develop more services and facilities, including increasing the bed capacity, of the OFW Hospital,” said Cacdac.
He said they also want more special services offered to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, aside from the forthcoming Cancer Care Center of the OFW Hospital.
“We want a dialysis treatment facility in the OFW Hospital,” said Cacdac.
Opened in May 2022, the OFW Hospital provided medical services to at least 86,000 current and former OFWs and their family members in 2024 alone.
The OFW Hospital is manned by some 200 nurses, doctors, and medical staff members.
