THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) yesterday said no Filipino was hurt in the Israeli strike on a compound housing Hamas political leaders in Doha, Qatar and in the ongoing protests against corruption in Nepal.

“The department’s latest report is that no Filipino has been directly affected by the strike. The Embassy continues to check on our kababayans,” the DFA said.

As this developed, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in a social media post, called on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Qatar to remain vigilant, stay calm, while staying away from public places unless absolutely necessary.

The DFA likewise urged Filipino nationals in Qatar to monitor news from credible sources and heed the advice of local authorities.

There are about 220,000 Filipinos living and working in Qatar.

The reminders were issued after Israel carried out strikes against the Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday.

The last time the embassy issued a similar advisory for Filipinos in Qatar was around three months ago following Iran’s limited missile strike on a US military base in the country, which was launched in retaliation for the American bombing of its nuclear sites, during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.

Meanwhile, the DFA said monitoring by the country’s embassy in New Delhi and its Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu, Nepal showed no Filipino was hurt or affected in the ongoing protest actions against the government in Nepal.

The embassy in New Delhi exercises concurrent jurisdiction over Nepal.

There are around 130 Filipinos in Nepal, including those married to Nepalese nationals.

OWWA urged OFWs in Qatar to contact the Philippine government if they are in need of assistance.

It said this can be done via OWWA Hotline (1348); Viber (+63 915 079 5005 | +63 969 169 7068 | +63 966 473 9543); WhatsApp (+63 966 473 9543); Facebook (Owwa Opc – https://www.facebook.com/owwa.cares.3); and Email (owwacares@owwa.gov.ph).

For Filipinos in Nepal, the DFA said that for emergencies or urgent assistance, they may contact the Honorary Consulate General at Kathmandu Anandanagar Dhumbarahi, Ward No. 4, Kathmandu through mobile number +977 984 9775585, telephone numbers +977 01 4008801805, 4008801-05, 4008799, or through email at kathmandu.pc.ah@dfa.gov.ph.

The Assistance-to-Nationals Section at the embassy in New Delhi may also be contacted through newdelhi.pe@dfa.gov.ph, Mobile/WhatsApp/Viber +91 99107 97104 and through its website https://newdelhipe.dfa.gov.ph/.
