Two months into 2025, more than 60,000 dengue cases have been reported in the Philippines, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

In a statement released on Tuesday, the DOH disclosed that 62,313 dengue cases have been reported from January 1 to March 1.

“This is 73 percent higher compared to the same period in 2024,” said the DOH.

Recording the highest number of dengue cases is Calabarzon with 12,735 cases; followed by 11,291 cases in the National Capital Region; and 10,185 cases in Central Luzon.

Despite this, however, the health department noted that dengue cases have been declining in recent weeks.

This as 14,163 dengue cases were reported from February 2 to 15.

“It is 10 percent lower than the 15,742 dengue cases recorded from January 19 to February 1,” said the DOH.

Last month, the DOH observed a surge in dengue cases brought on by the unusual increased rainfall during the early months of the year.

Nevertheless, the DOH warned the public of the strong possibility of dengue cases rising anew during the rainy season.

“We expect a sudden surge in dengue cases in the country once we enter the rainy season,” said the DOH.
