THE Office of the Judiciary Marshal (OJM) has launched an investigation to unmask those behind the death threats made against several judges of the Pasig City Regional Trial Court.

Supreme Court spokesperson Camille Sue Mae Ting said the probe is being conducted in coordination with the anti-cyber crime units of the PNP and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The SC on Wednesday night said several Pasig trial court judges received threats sent via electronic mail on July 16.

“The probe aims to identify and apprehend the perpetrator and pursue the appropriate legal actions,” Ting said, adding that the threats will neither hinder the delivery of justice nor cow the judiciary.

“The Judiciary remains committed to upholding judicial independence. Judges will continue to carry out their duties with integrity and calm resolve, guided by fairness and the rule of law,” she added.

The Pasig regional trial court is currently handling several high-profile cases, including the criminal case for alleged sexual abuse against Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy, and the trafficking charges against dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo.

Ting reiterated her assurance to the public that the SC is taking the matter seriously and is closely monitoring the situation.

She also said appropriate security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and protection of the judges, court personnel, court users, and the general public.

Ting did not disclose the names of the judges who received the death threats, though the emailed threats were released.

She said that “further details remain confidential at this time” due to the ongoing investigation and the safety of the judges.

One of the messages sent advised Pasig RTC judges to exercise caution, warning that two of them will be shot.

“Mag ingat ang mga judges sa Pasig City Hall of Justice ngayong July 16, 2025. Mayroong dalawa sa kanila ang babarilin sa kalagitnaan ng hearing. Maging mapagmatyag. Mga hukom ang target namin ngayong araw (Judges at the Pasig City Hall of Justice should be careful today, July 16, 2025. Two of them will be shot in the middle of their hearings. Be cautious. We are targeting judges today),” said one of the messages.

Another message received at 8:34 a.m. warned that gunmen are already positioned and urged the judges to flee.

The SC last March designated retired general Manuel Gaerlan as the first chief marshal of the newly created OJM, which was created under Republic Act No. 11691, or the Judiciary Marshals Act, to address increasing threats against members of the Judiciary.
