CRIMINAL charges have been filed before the Department of Justice against the suspects in the kidnap-slay of businessman Anson Que and his driver, whose bodies were found early this month in Rodriguez, Rizal.
To undergo inquest proceedings for kidnapping for ransom with homicide were Chinese businessman David Tan Liao alias Michael Agad Young/Xiao Chang Jiang and Filipinos Richard Austria, alias Richard Tan Garcia, and Reymart Catequista Loria.
The Task Force on Anti-Kidnapping of the National Prosecution Service led by Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Herbert Calvin Abugan also recommended to Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon the conduct of a preliminary investigation against six Chinese, namely, Rongxian Gou alias Alvin Que, Yang Haohua, Yuan Fangquiang, Ye Jin Yuan, one alias Jonin Lin and one alias Kelly, a female Chinese.
The Que’s family lawyer, Arleen Tagaban, told reporters that three of the respondents underwent an inquest last April 19 but they subsequently submitted a motion requesting the conduct of a preliminary investigation.
“My understanding is that the three respondents had already submitted their respective ‘salaysay’ before the Anti Kidnapping Group I think and now, they are all requesting for submission of a counter-affidavit,” Tagaban said.
She said they want to get to the bottom of the case since one of the respondents she did not identify has implicated another individual in the case.
Asked what the participation of the individual being implicated in the case, Tagaban demurred to disclose the details.
“That’s what we want to know. I cannot divulge,” she said, adding that the person being implicated is Chinese.
She added the Que family is satisfied with the evidence gathered by the Anti-Kidnapping Group but they want authorities to probe the claim against the individual implicated by one of the respondents.
The DOJ set the next hearing of the case on May 8 for the filing of counter-affidavits by the respondents.
