CRIMINAL charges have been filed against a Quezon City policeman who figured in a recent road rage shooting incident that resulted in the death of a driver and the wounding of his companion.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said it has filed several charges, including murder and frustrated murder, against Executive M/Sgt. Randy Tuzon, 48, last Saturday, two days after the shooting incident.
Tuzon was also charged with violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Batas Pambansa 881 (Omnibus Election Code), the QCPD said.
Tuzon, assigned to the QCPD’s Batasan police station, was driving an L300 van when he figured in a traffic altercation with the victims, Ronnie Borromeo, driver of another L300 van, and his passenger, Reynaldo Hagos.
Police said Tuzon got out of his vehicle and confronted the suspects. Borromeo reportedly took a steel pipe and hit Tuzon during the altercation, prompting Tuzon to draw his firearm and shoot the victims.
Borromeo was brought to the Diliman Doctors Hospital while Hagos remains confined at the East Avenue Medical Center.
Tuzon later surrendered to fellow QCPD policemen and turned over his firearms.
QCPD acting director Melecio Buslig Jr. assured the families of the victims that QCPD will ensure the law will be implemented fairly, especially noting that the suspect is a policeman.
