OVER 2,000 students of Nangka High School in Marikina City joined the Philippine Heart Association (PHA) during the launch yesterday of the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Ready Philippines Campaign (CPR-Ready PH).
Mayor Maan Teodoro was invited as a guest of honor by the PHA in preparation for the 10th CPR-ReadyPH CPR training to the barangays in the country.
The event was held to implement the CPR Act (RA) 10871, which mandates all public and private schools to incorporate age-appropriate basic life support training in the high school curriculum.
The program aims to equip Filipinos with lifesaving skills to become first responders in emergencies.
The student can pass on his/her CPR skills to the whole family, while one adult member can be a CPR champion.
The PHA observes National CPR Day every July 17, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration in March 2024 institutionalizing the date as an annual nationwide observance.
CPR Act lapsed into law in 2016. Since then, the PHA has been observing July 17 as National CPR Day.
On the same day, Teodoro led the groundbreaking ceremony for a park for the youth and senior citizens at the Rancho IV East Green Space Redevelopment Project in Barangay Concepcion Dos.
Under #AlagangMarikinaCity, the local government aims to provide Marikina residents an environment-friendly park with a modern playground for children, senior citizens and their families.
